Benefit Cosmetics Review

Learning To Love You More

From "The Future" to 'The Hallway" Miranda July's concept on how she views the world is fascinating. For all of those dreamers, wonders and for those that over analyse the world and how it works i'd highly recommend watching "You, me and everyone we know." in my opinion one of July's most incredible pieces. The story of obsession, rejection, the unique love story of a lonely shoe salesman and eccentric artist finding their own path in the universe.

All I ever really want to know is how other people are making it through life—where do they put their body, hour by hour, and how do they cope inside of it.
— Miranda July, It Chooses You

He loved me. He was a complex person with layers of percolating emotions, some of them spiritual, some tortured in a more secular way, and he burned for me. This complicated flame of being was mine.

Etsy Shop Reviews

I am one of these ladies who can literally shop, forever. I have my "if i win the lottery" lists my payday splurges and just general design and fashion inspirations. I stumbled across Etsy in September 2010 ever since I've explored and discovered hundreds of incredible handmade stores around the world. Imagine an online thrifting experience Woodstock T-shirts, your dads old shirt from the 70's or maybe a beautifully carved necklase. The possibilities are endless.

Here are a few pieces I've fallen in love with recently. Once I see funds in my bank on Friday let's just say a few pennies will definitely be spent.

I came across these visually stunning pieces a while back and have been in love ever since, from Jeremy at "Oanabefort"

I've got two tickets to Iron Maiden, baby.

March is a great time to start a new project. The beginning of the Sunshine creeping from behind the clouds to brighten up the world. For as long as I can remember I have wanted a fully functioning Vintage Typewriter. My project this summer is to write out passages from my favourite pieces of literature. The main goal of this is to fill my home full of snippets of great literature.

Eat Your Greens

This week I have been craving Kale, Butternut Squash, Carrots, Parsnips and everything green.
Here are a few inspirational meal idea's I plan to make this week.

Big Easy

On Wednesday I went to Benefit Cosmetics HQ to indulge in a little pampering session held by our Area Manager. I'd heard of BB Creams before but never paid much interested until this one came along. It is "bigger than a BB" with a liquid to powder forumlation leaving your face looking matte and balanced. With a strong SPF15 and a surprisingly excellent coverage it is my new favourite item in my cosmetics bag. Usually I always go for a paler shade as my skin is milky white yet I can use up to shade four which is incredible. The colours blend to match your own skin colour underneath is the product before and after blending.

the beauty industry and the hard truths

Working in Cosmetics has always been something I have been extremely passionate about. I left School and University with no idea on what I wanted to do next for some people that'd be a bad thing but for me it's been a great insight into my own personal strengths and career ambitions. Gaining an incredible amount of knowledge about the Beauty Industry and their Ethics.

You walk into Boots for example and go over to the Shampoo section. Oh, you love Coconut right? Let's pick up Boot's own brand "Coconut and Almond Shampoo" you would really like that incredible Coconut scent and your hair to feel soft, nourished and clean when you've washed the product off your lovely locks. If you actually turn the product around and look into those ingredients you are using can you tell exactly how much "Coconut and Almond" is even in the formula alongside all of the other crap? Will you get all of the benefits of coconut and almonds on your hair? Probably not. The reality is these products are made in a huge industrial factory with a pot called "almond extract" placed in storage for years and are kept fresh by using preservatives. There are so many products on the market which are totally false. It's easier to buy something that looks plain and cheap rather than the higher end products, which you can actually see results from and contain the actual ingredient. When I first started working for Lush many years ago I began using their "Curly Wurly" shampoo. Wow, at first I was surprised on how much coconut was actually in the pot. With the thick coconut consistency at first it seemed strange rubbing the product into my scalp. When actually all along I wanted the real Coconut, I wanted the beautiful silky hair with the incredible real Coconut smell.

For me, it's about buying products and cosmetics that actually work. That their ingredients ARE NOT tested on Animals or the final product. It's so hard to find real Ethical brands in which support these guidelines to are affordable and in which you see results.

Here is Peta's Cruelty Free list and also the link to a great article from Greenpeace about the Rainforest conservation and what is currently happening with Head & Shoulders.

Seven Sisters Adventure

Sunday is my favourite day of the week. No work, no early morning rush just quality time with my favourite person in the world. It's our only day totally free to spend some time together and cause some mischief. Today's ventures were driving around country lanes, taking the car to get a good wash and exploring the Cuckmere valley. There is a really divine classic English Country pub located just past Jevington and Eastbourne called "The Golden Galleon" in the summer after the boot fairs we usually head over and devour a classic Sunday Roast. I've sat in the pub garden many times and always said "I want to do the Seven Sisters walk" but it's always been too rainy or late. Today we did it finally, walked all the way from the mainland towards the coastal cliffs. Somedays it's so peaceful to take some time away from your day to day life and explore the beauty of the English Countryside. I would definitely recommend it to everyone.

Juicing For Dummies

Order a Juicing box from Abel & Cole.
Flick through the incredible recipes on their website and write down a few you'd like to try.
Prepare all of your juicy organic fruit and vegetables on a chopping board.
Chop all of your ingredients into small pieces taking out any pips and seeds.
Throw them all in your blender with a cup of water.
Blend (or juice) for a good 2-3 minutes until it looks like a smooth liquid.
I put the thick juice through a small fine sieve so the juice flows into a jug.
Bottle up and enjoy!

Puffa Fish

Firstly, my apologises for the severe lack of blog posts this month. I've felt quite exhausted and de-motivated over the last few weeks. A little combination of working heaps and facing the creativity wall and finding a way around. Sometimes you wake up full of passion and ideas and other weeks go a little like "mergh" it's been a few of those little buggers.

Anyway, I am back! Hello World.

After falling in love with The Royal Tennanbaums many years ago the rest of Wes Anderson's cinematography works like a jigsaw adding intricate pieces, characters and story plots to create a miniature world within his films. After watching "The Royal Tennanbaums" for the hundredth time somehow I always manage to feel the same even after I know the plot lines. Self doubt, secrecy, anxiety depression and heaps of psychological problems flow though many characters within the picture which I think adds a slight aspect of realism to the story. Royal's favouritism and abandonment becomes quite clear. The effect of Margot's deep secrecy and emotional barrier to hide what's really going on inside by just turning her emotions off. The
