Treasured Cinema.

YouMeand Everyone We Know
Since before I can actually remember back i've been besotted with Miranda July.
Her trail of thoughts and mind is something of a dream. I've never read, watched and listened to something quite like her work. People don't understand her sometimes and the only way I can describe her take on this world is "watching with glistening eyes."
Miranda is an observer, a watcher of love, passion and in her own words:

“All I really want to know is how other people are making it through life? Where do they put their body, hour by hour and how do they cope inside of it?”.

This movie is one of a kind, artistic, mellow, realistic, one for deep thinkers.

500 Days of Summer
The following is a work of fiction. Any resemblance to persons living or dead is purely coincidental. Especially you Jenny Beckman. Bitch.

Generally one of my favourite films of all time, I think I'm up to the 23578th time of watching this. Why? This is not a love story. The brilliant, quirky indie style storyline of Boy meets Girl. Infactuation and falling in love is a love story in it's own right twisted into a man's perspective. Zooey Deschanel has been one of my top Actresses for a long time. Her 1950's style, beautiful voice and realistic acting has made her such an inspiration. If you are a Zooey fan and haven't already seen them watch Yes Man! & Flakes and of course New Girl. Despite all of the romantic emotion in this film it's actually really fun and very well shot. I adore the Super 8 style film at the beginning.

“I would encourage anyone who has a crush on my character to watch it again and examine how selfish he is. He develops a  mildly delusional obsession over a girl onto whom he projects all these fantasies. He thinks she'll give his life meaning because he doesn't care about much else going on in his life.. that's not healthy."

- Joseph Gordon Levitt on Tom Hanson.

This movie is for school girls, artsy folk and the people who'd rather see a realistic pretty woman instead of a plastic filled bimbo on their screens.

The Royal Tennanbaums
A family of eccentrics learning the lessons of love, forgiveness and the true importance of family.
Wes Anderson does it again, another beautiful piece of Cinema. With every scene so carefully directed, acted and the character portrayal is exquisite. A indie comedy with a twist. If you are a fan of Wes' work this is one of the greatest. My favourite piece from his magnificent collection.

Margot: I think we're just gonna to have to be secretly in love with each other and leave it at that, Richie.

This movie is for illustration lovers, artistic souls, Wes Anderson fans and someone who likes a little something on the odd side.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Imagine if that "block" button was real? Deep thinking and self analysation, the meaning of life and love. That's what Eternal Sunshine really is. The spontaneous girl with bright dyed hair and Joel. Falling helplessly in love with her, with some experimental mind portals, wiping memories from her brain and other scenarios Eternal Sunshine from the Spotless Mind is exquisite. In all fairness I cannot really say much more without ruining the plot. Watch it.

Joel: What a loss to spend that much time with someone, only to find out that she's a stranger.

This movie is a little twisted, strange reality and one for arguing lovers.

Ghost World

Odd and underground movie which is actually a graphic novel too. It's about growth, loosing your childhood and the "forcing to have to grow up" phase. The greatest teenage heroines kicking ass. Enid and Rebecca are two pea's in a pod faced with Graduation and life choices. It's funny with a sense of loneliness, a touching story of two young souls. Again, in this scenario I find it hard to chatter on without spoiling the whole movie. So watch, or read. Bring out your inner Rebel.

Enid: Trust me, at this point I'm past the fact that every single guy likes you better than me.
Rebecca: Oh, face it, you just hate every single guy on the face of the earth.
Enid: That's not true. I just hate all these extroverted, obnoxious, pseudo-bohemian losers.

This movie is for those 90's girls still listening to Babes in Toyland, Teenagers who are trying to figure out their next move and the universe in general.

The Runaways
When I first saw the poster and that Kirsten Stewart was playing Joan Jett my first reaction was "are you joking?" that girl from Twilight who was so socially awkward? But yes, she did Joan Jett proud. From Cherrie Currie singing David Bowie to the badass attitude of the Runaways they captured it all, perfectly. I was so impressed with the glam rock, cherry bomb style to really show Cherrie Currie at her best and also worst. If you like kick ass girl rock, this is one for you.

Now, growl! Moan! This ain't women's lib, kiddies - this is women's libido! I wanna see the scratch marks down their fucking backs! Now, do it again. Again. Like your boyfriend just fucked your sister in your parent's bed. Like you want a fucking orgasm!”.

This movie is for people who appreciate Rock Music, Strong female leads, those who have a passion for music, red lipstick and leather.
